Isotopic 15N tracing shows that the fungus transfers nitrogen to the host via a CtAREA-dependent but transporter‑independent pathway, while the associated bacterium Paraburkholderia monticola further enhances growth and suppresses fungal pathogenicity in certain host mutants.
